Our hotel’s name is inspired by Westport’s stunning location and proximity to the sea. The Mariner conjures up images of intrepid adventure, travel and escapism. Come aboard and join us on a voyage of discovery and allow us to be the gateway to new and wonderful experiences.

Westport Walking Tours
Take a gentle walking tour around the planned heritage town of Westport. Find out the history of Westport by way of stories, with this lighthearted and fun tour. With a 5 star rating on TRIP ADVISOR it is now rated the No1 tour and activity in Westport. The tour takes approximately 1 hour with plenty of laughs along the way. Tours are €10 per person, Tours depart from The Mariner Westport Monday to Friday at 9.45am and from Westport Town Hall 12noon. Running 1st April to 30th September 2023, regardless of weather. Hail, rain, sleet or snow, all tours will go.
Westport Bike Hire
Westport bike hire, is a family owned and operated business based in the heart of Westport town, on James Street. They stock a large range of bikes suitable for young and old and also cater for those that that are a little unsure about cycling. They also stock very comfortable adult trikes so everyone can cycle along the greenway or surrounding areas of Westport, Murrisk, Croagh Patrick and Louisburgh. The fantastic sights of Clew Bay can be seen at ease on their 21 gear bikes and as far afield as the lovely Leenane via Louisburgh and the buzzing town of Clifden.
Situated next to The Great Western Greenway, a 42km long and mostly traffic free cycling and walking route. Along the way which passes through the picturesque towns of Newport, Mulranny and Achill Island, you can experience first hand the beauty that the towns and countryside has to offer; castle’s, abbeys, lakes, mountains, beaches, sheep and vast amounts of wildlife.
Mescan Brewery Tours
See the local brewery and hear the story of how the founders, Cillian and Bart, left their busy lives as vets to run a microbrewery. You will be lead through a selection of the range of beers, describing the flavour profiles and some of the history of each style. Light snacks are served, the tours are informal and fun and encourage questions. The tours last one hour and cost €15 per person. Every Friday for the summer 2022, 2.30pm and Saturdays June 25, July 23 and August 20 at 12.30pm. Check calendar for full list of dates.
Summer SUP & Kayak – Old Head Beach Mayo
They offer Stand Up Paddle Boarding & Kayaking lessons, rentals, tours and summer camps, using the best quality equipment and trained instructors. Old head beach and pier is a very safe and idyllic location for Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. Whether you’re new to Paddle Boarding and Kayaking or not, you will make wonderful memories in these beautiful surroundings.
They are open from Sunrise to Sunset from the May Bank Holiday weekend right through to September 2022 and have organised sessions throughout the day. Pre-Booking is essential and they will help you choose the best time based on the weather for the days you are staying in the area.
